As I mentioned earlier, I have always been fascinated with the reasons as to who, how, when, why and what was movedover a line.I want this layout to be one of operation rather than tofcf1.jpg (39607 bytes)solely stand back and view. To this end, all my locomotives and wagons have been converted over to Minitrain (N gauge KD) couplers to give me the flexibility that this type of coupler offers. Not all areas have magnets between the tracks. I use a simple tool that can be inserted into the two connected couplers and by rotating the tool between the fingers, disconnects the couplers. No more inadvertent uncoupling in yard areas etc!

The exception to the Minitrains couplers applies to my passenger stock that have been converted so the coaches interconnect using Fleischmann PROFI couplings. I use the Minitrain couplers at either extreme end of the coach rake.

It is my intention to eventually run this layout to a computer generated switchlist system. I have purchased one Computer Freight Car Forwarding (CFCF) program to date, and found it wanting. I have now sent away for another CFCF program (that has been advertised on the Internet) that appears to offer the facilities I am looking for. Least-wise, I hope so . . . anyway, it offers a money back guarantee if one is not satisfied!!
